Two Fabric Strip Quilt,

This lap size quilt was made with fabric designed by Jane Sassaman. It is two fabrics, cut in strips and pieced together with a simple black border.

These two quilts were each made with a white sheet. Both are twin size.

I love this bright quilt. It is all triangles, outlined in black.  The leftover triangles are on the back.

Washington State Square
72"x89"
Hand and machine pieced, machine quilted

I started the first square for this quilt when we left Washington in 1985. I like
the look of this pattern, even though it has a lot of set in triangles. The first squares I did all by hand. As the years went by and I added new squares, I started to machine piece the middles. I think the last few were all machine pieced, even the set-in triangles! It was machine quilted by Kristen Hoftyzer.

Flying Geese
88”x102”

Machine pieced, hand and machine quilted

I saw a picture of this quilt in a magazine. It was in the Living History Farm in
Des Moines, IA. I liked the pattern and the colors and decided to try to duplicate it. All of the triangles were made with the Square in a Square ruler which makes the edges on all the flying geese units’ bias edges. It went
together anyway and I love the end result. I started hand quilting this quilt
and it is the last hand quilting I did. I finished it with machine
quilting.

I have been digging into my small scraps bin and making quilts. This is the first quilt I have made using improv piecing techniques. Very fun.

This quilt was a memory quilt for my daughter. The photos are of her travels during college. The fabrics are 2 1/2" batik strips.

This is a baby quilt that I made for my second grandson. It's called Dancing in the Moonlight.

This modern quilt is my first attempt at the new look. It's a twin size quilt and looks great on the bed!

Grandmother’s Fan with Floral Wreaths

 Finished Nov., 2011

66”x86”
Hand applique, machine quilted

We used to make a fan block for each president of the quilt
group. Back in 1987, I decided to do a few ahead. But I liked the block and playing with the colors so much that I decided to make a quilt. After I had a lot of blocks made, to make it different I put an applique in each corner that would come together as a wreath when the blocks were sewn together. I love scrap quilts and was pleased with how this one turned out. It only took 24 years to finish it!
